MDS Silver Jubilee Celebration

To celebrate Silver Jubilee of formation of MDS, a day long national level brainstorming workshop on the theme ‘Haryana, Hali & Girl Child’ was jointly organized by the MDS, India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), New Delhi & Radio Mewat, Nuh (Haryana).

More than 60 specially invited delegates from different backgrounds like policy makers, planners, administrators, academicians, researchers, educationists, field functionaries, elected panchayat representatives, public representatives, NGOs, businessmen, judiciary, mass media, social activists, writers, religious leaders, etc. actively participated in the workshop.

Workshop on ‘Haryana, Hali & Girl Child’

There were three technical sessions besides the Preliminary/Inaugural Session and Concluding Session. The Inaugural Session was chaired by Dr Syeda Saiyidain Hameed Member, Planning Commission & Co-Chairperson, Hali Panipati Trust, Panipat (Haryana) and Janab Safdar Husain Khan, Vice-President, IICC & Chairman, Delhi Minorities Commission; Govt of NCT of Delhi was the guest of honour.

The welcome and introduction of the workshop was given by Dr. Subhan Khan, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NISTADS & Patron, MDS, Chharora, Mewat (Haryana) and thanks were extended by Mrs. Archana Kapoor, Director, Radio Mewat, Nuh (Haryana).

The Silver Jubilee of formation of Mewat Development Society (MDS) coincided with 175th birth anniversary of a great personality of 19th century, Shamsul-ulma Maulana Khwaja Altaf Hussain Hali Panipati (1837-1914). He was a versatile writer, both in prose and poetry, and biographer of some the most distinguished personalities of India including Sir Syed Ahmed Khan; Mirja Ghalib; Sheikh Sadi and Hakim Nasir Khusro.

Hence MDS, made humble efforts throughout the year in 2012 to highlight various dimensions of his personality like Hali as a nationalist, a revolutionary, a secular, a visionary, a social reformer, an educationist, an ardent advocate of women education, great commentator on ebb & tide of Islam and a true interpreter of Islam.
